PUNTA DE MITA, MEXICO
| Punta de Mita
is 35 minutes from the airport in Puerto Vallarta.
The drive takes you out to Bucerias
and then along the northern coast of the Bay
of Banderas. This is really where the magic
starts with over 20 surf spots between Bucerias and
the point at Punta de Mita. There are secluded beaches,
tide pools, and safe swimming for the kids at many of
them. |

The sleepy little village
of El Ancolote provides the backdrop
for all of this and there are some 15 restaraunts situated
on the beach. When the break in front of the resaurant
El Corral works there just isn't any better way to spend
a day. Grab a table, paddle out, and surf one of the
most fun waves anywhere (think Mexican Malibu) and then
join your friends for lunch while you watch the surfing
action. |
| |
|
| Many of the breaks are
best accessed by boat. If the swell is on then 3/4 of
a mile from El Ancolote is "The Point"…
think El Cap here because this wave moves. There are
also some great reef breaks. If you are coming with
children the beach directly in front of El Corral provides
safe swimming and a great place to learn to surf especially
for the kids. There are lots of other activities in
the area. |
 |
The Four Seasons property at Punta de Mita
offers one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world
with many of the fairways running right along the beach. The
signature hole is an island and you just won't play a more
exciting or challenging golf hole. Special rates are available
to our guests.
 |
Two miles off shore from
El Ancolote are the Mariettas Islands,
a marine national park. The snorkeling is great and
there are a large variety of fish. There is even a cave
grotto on the island and winter brings whale watching
season. The Mariettas are a great place to pack a lunch
and spend the day. |
|
For the more adventuresome, deep sea fishing for Tuna and Dorado is plentiful.
|
Our friend Capt. Josh
will arrange an unforgettable day on the water. His
biggest Yellowfin this season is 303 lbs. (6 lbs off
the world record) Sushi anyone?? |

Punta de Mita has something for everyone,
from relaxing on the palapa covered patios to surfing some
of the cleanest waves Mexico has to offer.
